JaCoya Thompson

Post-Doctoral Scholar

Dr. Thompson is a post-doctoral researcher in the IDEA Lab at Clemson University. She started her career in education as a high school mathematics teacher, which evolved into becoming a researcher in computer science education. Her research interests include the development of technologies and curricula that support learners in building skills related to computer science concepts, facilitating programs that introduce learners to concepts such as wearable technologies, programming languages, and data science. Dr. Thompson holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Northwestern University. She also earned an M.S. in Earth and Planetary Science and a Certificate in Data Science from Northwestern University. She has an M.S. in Mathematics and a BS in Computer Science from Fayetteville State University. She is a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, Northwestern University IDEAS Fellow, GEM fellow, and NSF STEM Education Post-Doctoral Fellow.
