Rosemarie Somers

Graduate Student Researcher

Rosemarie is a doctoral student in the Agricultural Sciences Program with a research focus on creating more diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments for preparing students for agricultural careers. She has a master’s in animal science from North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, a bachelor’s in agriculture from Prairie View A&M University, Texas, and an associate of science degree in agricultural education from the College of Agriculture Science and Education (CASE) in Portland, Jamaica. Rosemarie served as an Agri-science teacher at the Sligoville All-Age School in Jamaica, where she taught both practical and theoretical principles of animal and plant science husbandry. Her research background includes investigating the effects of feeding seaweed extract and ractopamine hydrochloride to commercial pigs to assess performance, carcass characteristics and meat quality. Rosemarie enjoys learning new languages.
